Broadcast #14 of T&A's Chicken Lips is in the can.  We are DJs at the local community radio station here in Salida, Colorado: KHEN-LP 106.9 FM ( website).  You can catch our show, T&A's Chicken Lips, on Wednesdays at 7 am - 9 am Mountain Time here in Salida.  KHEN also stream's it's signal on the World Wide Web.   Our show include a weekly audio "editorial" on technology called "Tech Kernels from the Chicken Lips." The "column" appears in text form below and is pretty close to what I read on the air.

Random News Tidbits

Today we'll talk about some items of interest in the news.

According to the BBC, Blogger arrests have reached a record high. Since 2003, 64 people have been arrested for expressing views opposing their governments. More than half of the arrests have occurred in China, Egypt, and Iran.

From Slashdot, a sophisticated online survey technology developed at MIT and a company called Affinnova has picked the ideal candidate for Barak Obama and Jon McCain. But surprisingly, it turned up the same vp candidate for both presidential candidates. Mr Ideal is none other than Colin Powell. Affinnova VP said "We never imagined that the same candidate would show up for both parties."

Also from Slashdot, a bit of news for all the ranchers here in the valley. A Rain Master Eagle-i Irrigation Controller was stolen outside of Tucson, Arizona. Apparently, the irrigation controller comes equipped with wifi. In other words, it has the capability to phone home if it manages to find an internet connection. So when the thief plugged it back in, they were quite surprised when a few hours later they were arrested. According to a Rainmaster support supervisor: "It was one of those America's dumbest criminal things. If these guys had only known what they had, they would have disabled the communications device and just used the basic controller by itself."
